Check Your Car Before Your Holiday Road Trips

With the holidays finally here, it means the roads and highways are going to get busier. We understand how special it is for you to see your close friends and family this holiday season, which is why the team at Kwik Kar Auto repair wants to make it easier on you by taking care of your auto maintenance. Below are all the things you should have inspected before going on your epic road trip:

Car Battery
A dead battery is one of the most common car problems during the winter. Bring your car to our shop, and we’ll test your battery with a voltage meter to see if your battery can hold a proper charge. We can also look for any signs of damage or corrosion. If your battery is 5 years old or older, it may be best to replace it completely.

Fluids and Filters
There are multiple fluids that you should inspect and top off before a long road trip: oil, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, coolant, and more. They may have a corresponding filter that needs changing as well.

Tires
One of our mechanics will happily take a look at your tire tread depth and check your tire pressure. These two aspects of your tires cannot go unmissed as they are necessary for ensuring your safety and vehicle performance. Otherwise, low tread wear and under inflated pressure can put you at risk of a tire accident.

Lighting
With the sun setting at 4 or 5 in the afternoon now, you must check to see if your headlights work. If so, is the brightness good enough? At our auto repair shop, we can assess all your vehicle’s lights to ensure they work throughout your trip.

Belts and Hoses
Loose belts or worn hoses can be just as dangerous as some of the scenarios above. This involves a quick check to see if they are leaking or need to be changed. Otherwise, it can be a nightmare for your vehicle’s systems, including the electrical, cooling system, brakes, or steering system.

When you choose to bring your car to Kwik Kar Auto Repair for a pre-trip assessment, you will feel more confident and ready for the road trip than you ever were before. Please give us a call or visit soon.
